SMC Does Not Influence Allocation at z/OS 1.8 or Higher (Doc ID 1018430.1)

Symptoms

SMC is not influencing allocation.
SMC is allocating the wrong device.
Allocation goes to wrong drive type.
9840C is allocated instead of 9840A.
9840A is allocated instead of 9840C.
Physical drive is allocated instead of virtual drive.
Allocation goes to virtual instead of physical.
Allocation of 9840C media to 9840A drives.

Changes

Upgraded from z/OS 1.7 or lower to z/OS 1.8 or higher.
