Goal

This document describes how to send cron or at job output to an alternate mail account.

Cron captures the output of a cron job and at job's STDOUT and STDERR streams. If an output is produced, it is mailed to the invoking user unless redirected elsewhere. If the job does not produce output, no mail is sent to the user unless the job is an (at) job and the -m option was specified when the job was submitted. System Administrators are normally assigned the task to monitor cron activity and not the invoking user. Administratively, it would be an advantage to have this output sent to alternate mail recipients.
