Troubleshooting patching activities that hang
Symptoms:
The patchadd or patchrm command seems to make no progress for an extended period of time and no messages are being written to the shell. This should be interruptible with a CTRL C at which point the shell prompt should be returned.
Purpose/Scope:
This document addresses issues related to Solaris patching that result in the patching activity hanging. The definition of hang in this context involves a hang in the user shell in which the patching activity is being run in. All other parts of the system should be unaffected.
