Source ip address unexpected, when logical interface shares physical interface from IPMP group

Goal
When a logical interface from an IPMP group is added the routing table by route command with '-iface' option, an unexpected source ip address is set.
This isn't a bug. Routes only point to physical interfaces, not to logical interfaces (even if the output of netstat indicates otherwise).
Further, source address selection is completely separate from outgoing interface selection. That is, if the application has not bound to a specific source address, then the kernel will choose one at "random" from the available addresses across the IPMP group -- regardless of which interface in the IPMP group has been chosen as the outbound interface for the packets.
