ACSLS - SL3000 Fails Dismount-Force of Volume "SCRTCH" With Error "No cell at the specified address" (Doc ID 1166583.1)

Last updated on JULY 11, 2022

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 7.0 to 8.5.1 [Release 7.0 to 8.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A Dismount with Force option would fail with these error messages:

2010-04-02 17:58:45 ACSLH[0]:
2378 N Co_ProcessResponses.C 1 1389
ACS: 0; LMU error: Co_4400:st_parse_error:

Request: Dismount, forced rewind and unload
Volser: SCRTCH, media domain: T, media type: 1
Source: Drive 0,0,12,1
Destination: Cell 0,0,12,47,4

2010-04-02 17:58:45 DISMOUNT[0]:

mt_stimulus: Invalid error lh_response type:1

2010-04-02 17:58:45 DISMOUNT[0]:
546 N cl_log_lh_er.c 1 99
dm_lh_fail: LH error type = LH_ERR_ADDR_INACCESSIBLE

The volume is only known to ACSLS as "SCRTCH".  Most likely, there was a previous failure
to correctly read the barcode label and the tape was left mounted on the drive.

This problem occurred when the library is a SL3000 with firmware level FRS 2.30.

The SLConsole's monitor trace shows that the library is using the drive ID as a destination cell during the dismount.

Changes

A library event occurred that caused ACSLS to mark an unreadable volume label as "SCRTCH".
