ACSLS - SL3000 Fails Dismount-Force of Volume "SCRTCH" with error "No cell at the specified address"

(Doc ID 1166583.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 22, 2014

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 7.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A Dismount with Force option would fail with these error messages:

2010-04-02 17:58:45 ACSLH[0]:

dm_lh_fail: LH error type = LH_ERR_ADDR_INACCESSIBLE

The volume is only known to ACSLS as "SCRTCH".  Most likely, there was a previous failure
to correctly read the barcode label and the tape was left mounted on the drive.

This problem occurred when the library is a SL3000 with firmware level FRS 2.30.

The SLConsole's monitor trace shows that the library is using the drive ID as a destination cell during the dismount.

Changes

A library event occurred that caused ACSLS to mark an unreadable volume label as "SCRTCH".
