ACSLS - Getting STATUS_NI_TIMEDOUT Error (Doc ID 1259587.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 08, 2024

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 7.0 to 8.5 [Release 7.0 to 8.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

1.   Error messages like these are repeatedly logged on the ACSLS acsss_event.log file:

The client application's volume inventory process fails with a STATUS_PENDING error.

2.  The CSI trace shows that ACSLS is sending the correct response packets to the client application's 'query volume all'
request.  Refer to <Document: 1018346.1>  How To Gather Advanced Diagnostic Data for ACSLS for instructions on
how to enable the CSI trace.

3.  The problem occurs only when ACSLS is sending multiple intermediate response packets back to the client.

4.  The problem occurs only when the client application communicates with ACSLS using the UDP protocol.
( This can be verified from the CSI trace. )

Changes

This problem occurs when testing a newly installed ACSLS server with the backup application.
This problem may also occur when a newly configured backup application runs its volume inventory process.
