Purpose
Sun Trunking link aggregation software allows customers to aggregate Sun Quad Fast Ethernet (qfe), Sun Dual Fast Ethernet (ce), Sun Gigabit Ethernet (ge), or Sun Giga Swift Ethernet (ce) ports into a single virtual link (trunk), and to establish a scalable "fat pipe" to carry higher aggregated data rates than any single Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet link.
For all currently shipping Gigabit Ethernet Networking Cards, the link aggregation feature is included in Solaris 10 and later. Please refer to the following link for currently available networking cards:
Sun Trunking 1.3 software is NOT needed for link aggregation using any of the currently shipping networking cards on Solaris 10 or later. The Sun Trunking 1.3 Software download for Solaris 10 will remain available on My Oracle Support (MOS) via the 'Patches & Updates' tab. This will allow Solaris 10 customers with Oracle Premier Support who have not yet migrated off the End of Life (EOL) servers and Network Interface Cards (NIC) continued access, as well as those who choose to purchase Sustaining Support after October 31, 2014.
Link aggregation with the older EOL'd NICs on Solaris 8/9/10 required the use of Sun Trunking 1.3 Software. Now that the older NICs, and supported servers, have been EOL'd, the Sun Trunking 1.3 Software has been EOL’d.
The last order date for Sun Trunking 1.3 Software was January 7, 2011 and the End of Premier Support Date is October 31, 2014. Extended Support will not be offered for any version of Sun Trunking Software. Please refer to the Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Sun Hardware, Operating Systems and Sun Software brochure, available at this link:
