ACSLS - Informix Database's Primary Chunk is Offline (Doc ID 1304300.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.


The following facts are observed when the primary chunk of the ACSLS Informix dbspace is offline:
1. The ACSLS version that is running is ACSLS 7.1 and earlier, using the Informix database.
2. ACSLS is configured for Second Disk backup and uses Informix mirroring feature.
3. ACSLS unexpectedly terminates due to database failure errors.
4. The rootdbs primary chunk is offline and ACSLS is running on the mirrored chunk.  Here is a
    sample onstat -d output:

    $ onstat -d

      Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC7 -- On-Line -- Up 2 days 20:59:38 -- 12128 Kbytes

      address    number flags   fchunk nchunks flags  owner    name
      a456150   1          2         1          1               M    informix  rootdbs
      1 active, 2047 maximum

      address    chk/dbs  offset  size       free   bpages  flags   pathname

      Note:  PD means 'primary - down'
                MO means 'mirror - online'


The Informix database went down after the informix and lib6 passwords expired.
