Purpose

This purpose of this document is to address situations where Update Manager and/or smpatch fail to register, do not download patches,
generates url or port related errors, and application or commands hang.

 Old java version can cause registration issues related to cacao
 Registration fails with "SOAP" java exception errors in the cacao.0 log
 Registration fails due to wrong java version for cacao
 Registration fails due to "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableExceptionat $Proxy8.register(Unknown Source) or $Proxy1.getInstanceName(Unknown Source)
 The sconadm register fails with "AMS remote exception"
 Basic registration or smpatch yield error code 403
 Update manager gui hangs or smpatch sub-commands hang
 Requirements needed to use update manager with Solaris 8 or Solaris 9
 Error message related to cacao exception in "SolarisAssetDataCollector.java:2124"
 Unable to register updatemanger or smpatch with non-Oracle hardware or within VM environments (Virtual Box, VMWARE, etc)
 smpatch fails with response code 500
 sconadm register and smpatch fail on previously working machines
 smpatch fails with Could not parse key values
