Goal
When using ZFS for the root file system, it is highly recommended that the root pool (rpool) consist of a mirrored configuration. The basic mirrored configuration consists of 2 disks. However, some situation may occur where the rpool could end up with concatenated disks.
(For example, if a disk is removed from the rpool to perform some type of maintenance function but is then incorrectly returned to the rpool such that the mirrored configuration is destroyed and a concatenated configuration is created, instead.)
The goal of this document is to provide the necessary steps for returning the configuration back to the recommended mirrored configuration.
