Goal

Note : for help with migrating tape media, consult the Document Doc ID 1010468.1 : Sun StorEdge[TM] SAM-FS:How To:Migrating from one media type to another media type

In case of a simple replace of the current disk archive by a new disk archive (ex. another LUN , filesystem or nfs share), it suffices to :

  1. Stop archiving,
  2. Mount the new lun/file system on a temporary mount point,
  3. Move all files from the old disk archive to the new one,
  4. Unmount both old- and new disk archives
  5. Remount the new one on the old mount point.

However sometimes the need arises to perform this migration in a more controlled way (i.e. in phases controlled by the system administrator) and/or only partially migrate an existing disk archive.

That's what the remainder of this document describes.

Note : make sure to verify that the disk archive is only used for local SAM-QFS filesystems and not by SAM Remote clients !
