Setting cookies fail when the hostname of the server contains an underscore (Doc ID 1342068.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2014

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 4.5 to 5.1 [Release 4.0 to 5.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Consider an Oracle Secure Global Desktop (SGD) array comprising of servers whose hostname contain an underscore ('_') such as 'abc_xyz.com'. Let these servers be configured for access through SGD Load-Balancer JSP (swcd.jsp).  When users access such servers from an Internet Explorer browser, they hit the following message on the client / browser:

Your browser does not support cookies (or has them disabled). This page requires cookies to function. Please correct the problem and try again.

This behavior doesn't happen on other browsers, such as Firefox, Mozilla, etc.,

NOTE: More information on the Load-Balancing JSP Technology Page to Distribute User Sessions can be found at:

Changes

There is a known restriction from Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE), where setting cookies fails when the hostname of the server contains an underscore ('_').
