Purpose
The function of the Lights Out Management (LOM) is to remotely control & monitor the system via the Serial Management port. The LOM controller ICs remain powered up when the system is shutdown so that the system can be powered up remotely. The controller has access to hardware timers for use with the LOM & OS watchdogs for possible host reset & to an EEPROM to record events (notices, faults, & fatal faults). The controller also accesses other devices to monitor the machine's temperature, PSUs, power rails, circuit breakers, & fan speeds which are used for event generation or possible host powerdown.
