Desktop Sessions Do Not Start as Expected within Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (Doc ID 1351401.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 14, 2014

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Version 3.3 to 3.5.1 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

When users authenticate with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and select a desktop from a list of available resource(s), the screen goes blank, before returning to the Desktop Selector screen.  No Desktop is launched.

In this scenario, the VDI adminstrator may have verified the following:

1.  Desktop Provider images have vda tools installed.
2.  The "vda-client" returns an ip-address of the Desktop image.

To test this:

a. Login to a Sun Ray Client outside of VDI to one of the secondaries.

b. The Administrator will then need to login to the Sun Ray Administration GUI, then choose: Advanced->System Policy, and unset Kisok mode.

c. Once logged in, run the command:
    # /opt/SUNWvda/lib/vda-client -u <username>
WHERE   <username> is the name of the VDI user

3.  Connecting to the Desktop image using a native Microsoft Terminal Services client works as expected.
