One replaced the broken Sun monitor with a HP ZR24w monitor. He wished to use the VGA port of the on-board graphics card on Ultra 20, M2 and Xorg could not be brought up in this configuration.

By reviewing the Xorg.0.log, the error encountered was "(EE) RADEON(0): EDID Version 1.4 not yet supported
(II) RADEON(0): DDC Type: 2, Detected Type: 0"

System worked with a nVideo card/Sun monitor. One took this card out to force the Ultra 20 M2 to use VGA port from the on-board graphics card with the new HP monitor.  The Xorg could not be brought up since then.
