snmpconf utility does not prompt for or configure authentication method and passphrase information for SNMPV3 user (Doc ID 1383202.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2016

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 to 10 1/13 U11 [Release 10.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The Solaris 10 System Management Agent (SMA), the SNMP agent included in Solaris 10, provides the snmpconf utility for creating a snmpd.conf configuration file. The following command line was used to create a configuration file that would include a SNMPV3 user and its authentication configuration information:

/usr/sfw/bin/snmpconf -i -g basic_setup

The snmpconf utility did not prompt for the SNMPV3 authentication information such as the authentication method or SNMPV3 user password/passphrase information that is needed for the SNMPV3 user. It only creates the user information.
