Upgraded OBIEE 11g Analysis/Dashboard Fails With Error: "[Nqserror: 42029] Subquery Contains Too Many Values For The In Predicate" (Doc ID 1386077.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 03, 2012

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.5.0 [1308] to 11.1.1.6.5 [Release 11g]
Oracle Exalytics Software - Version 1.0.0.0.0 to 1.0.0.1.0 [Release 1.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

OBIEE 11g requests (reports) and dashboards are failing with error:

[nQSError: 42029] Subquery contains too many values for the IN predicate.
[nQSError: 43119] Query Failed:
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS.

This occurs even though the NQSConfig.ini setting shows:

MAX_EXPANDED_SUBQUERY_PREDICATES = 500000; # default is 8192

This error may occur on requests that worked (without error) in a previously working 11g version, or in environments where the data results increased significantly (i.e. increased from 15 to 20,000 rows to over 1 million rows).

This problem may also occur on Oracle Exalytics environments when running OBIEE 11g requests or dashboards.
