Purpose

Introduction

Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) components provide important functionality vital to users of modern UNIX operating systems.  Oracle Solaris is no exception, and the number of FOSS packages delivered with Oracle Solaris has increased with each update and full release.

This knowledge article provides background information concerning support of FOSS packages delivered with Oracle Solaris 11 and older Oracle Solaris releases.

Scope

 FOSS packages that are built and installed by customers from the open source community are not supported by Oracle.
