zfs mount -a reports "cannot mount '{zfs filesystem}': directory is not empty"

(Doc ID 1418280.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2016

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 11/06 U3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

zfs mount and zfs mount -a fail as in this example below:

# zfs mount -a
cannot mount '/mnt01': directory is not empty

This is because zfs does not allow mounting on top of directories that are not empty.
