Customer's Network Team been working with Brocade. They traced the Spanning Tree issues to a Solaris host port that the access switch thought was the root port for that VLAN.
The Switchport was seeing BPDUs on the port and teh customer thought they were coming from the Solaris host. A BPDU is a spaning tree frame that switches/bridges use to communicate with each other regarding information about the spanning tree(s) topology and state.
