The cpustat utility could fail with "cannot access performance counters - Operation not applicable" (Doc ID 1432484.1)

Symptoms

On Solaris 10 update 10 (08/11 release), the cpustat utility could fail with error "cannot access performance counters - Operation not applicable", if /usr and / are two separate partitions.   

 

To verify the issue:

1.  Check cpustat output

 

Changes

The cpustat error can occur with these two conditions:

1. when you upgrade to Solaris 10 kernel update, such as KU 144500-19/147440-XX (Sparc) or KU 144501-19/147441-XX (X86), AND

2. when the /usr is mounted in a separate partition from /
