 Locate and review the EECS 2.0 Upgrade Guide
 Ensure media for EECS 2.0 Upgrade Kit and EECS 2.0 Boot Images is available centrally from the ZFS Storage Appliance and accessible via FTP
 Ensure FTP access is enabled for /common/patches and /common/images filesystems on ZFS Storage Appliance
 Copy media downloads for EECS 2.0 Upgrade Kit and EECS 2.0 Boot Images so that they are available from sub-directories of /common/patches and /common/images respectively
 Backup current settings and existing software revisions for each component of the Exalogic Infrastructure
 Road map of tasks undertaken during the update
 Updating Exalogic Switches (NM2-GW and NM2-36P)
 High Level Overview of Upgrade Tasks and Order of Application for Switches
 Updating NM2-GW Switches (applicable to all system configurations)
 Overview of steps
 For 1/2 and Full rack configurations (where both NM2-GW and NM2-36P switches are present):
 For 1/8 and 1/4 rack configurations (where only NM2-GW switches are present):
 Steps to be performed while updating each NM2-GW Switch
 Prerequisite health check: Validate the current status of NM2-GW switches within your Infiniband Cluster is free from unexpected errors
 Prerequisite health check: Validate the /tmp file system has sufficient free space.
 Prerequisite health check: Validate the required amount of free memory is available.
 Prerequisite health check: Ensure the file /conf/configvalid has an entry of 1.
 Prerequisite health check: Ensure that /etc/hosts has an entry providing localhost with the 127.0.0.1 address.
 Prerequisite health check: Verify GATEWAY is appropriately set in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
 Prerequisite health check: Back-up the /conf/partitions.current file
 Prerequisite health check: Back-up the /conf/bx.conf file
 Prerequisite health check: Use WGET to validate accessibility from the switch of the FTP location where the firmware patch has been made available.

 Identify which of the storage heads is currently active and which is passive.
 For example:
 Update software components of the currently the passive storage head
 Prerequisite Health Check: Confirm the ILOM and Appliance Kit Software for the current storage head meets prerequisite patch levels for EECS 2.0
 Prerequisite Health Check: Confirm the ILOM update package is available to the storage node at the expected FTP location.
 Update Integrated Lights Out Firmware (ILOM) firmware.
 Update ZFS Storage 7320 Appliance Kit Software to Version 2011.1.1.0.
 
 Updating Compute Nodes
 High Level Overview
 Incrementally applying EECS 2.0 Update to a single compute node
 Prerequisite Step: Make EECS 2.0 related updates available from shared storage.
 Prerequisite Step: Copy key update files to the compute node and confirm they have been created at the expected locations within the local file system being updated
 
 Navigate to the /opt/ebi_upgrade/scripts directory and from within that directory execute the setup_upgrade.sh script
 
 Identify and unmount any NFS related file systems
 
 From the /opt/ebi_upgrade/scripts directory execute the ebi_upgrade.sh twice to complete the upgrade of the compute node
 
 Post Update Tasks to confirm the compute node update has completed successfully

 Appendix A: How to identify which of the IB Switches are running in Primary or Secondary Mode
