Last updated on OCTOBER 08, 2019

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 to 10 1/13 U11 [Release 10.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Using Solaris 10 Samba to authenticate users via Microsoft Active Directory Server (ADS) the Winbind utility wbinfo -S command may report the following error:

# wbinfo -S S-1-5-21-1290200075-551817526-69128510-1111
Could not convert sid S-1-5-21-1290200075-551817526-69128510-1111 to uid

The numbers after S- is the Windows ADS SID for the user. The SID would be obtained with the wbinfo -n command as shown:

# wbinfo -n user1
S-1-5-21-1290200075-551817526-69128510-1111 SID_USER (1)
