How to Install & Remove IDRs with pkg on Solaris 11 and Later Releases (Doc ID 1452392.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 11, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11.0 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Goal

This document describes how to install and remove an IDR and what the information about the IDR looks like. All methods automatically create a backup boot environment to switch back to in case of problems with the IDR.

NOTE: If the IDR to be installed conflicts with an existing IDR currently installed, please contact support for further assistance.  A combined IDR will need to be created.

Please check this document "Interim Diagnostic or Relief (IDR) (Doc ID 1019471.1)", if you like to know what an IDR is.
