Goal
Description:
There are users reporting SP's ILOM CLI performance degradation and eventual SP CLI hangs. This may be due to memory leaks. If memory is lost then functionality like host console access is lost making the SC appear hang. If too much is lost, then the ILOM hangs.
Impact
Older versions of the Service Processor firmware can leak memory, eventually resulting in a variety of issues such as:
-Cannot connect to Service Processor via serial or network.
-Service Processor has stopped responding to requests.
Additionally, inconsistent reporting behavior has also been experienced where PSU indicator on chassis shows amber LED when no actual PSU failure has occurred.
Cause:
Cause is attributed to a number of CRs for memory leaks on the Service Processor. Defects (memory leaks) in the Service Processor firmware lead to an out of memory condition, and an inability to respond to requests. The condition deteriorates until the Service Processor is reset.
ILOM firmware revisions prior 7.2.7.b contained memory leaks which can cause console hangs over time.
