Solaris Volume Manager (SVM): Changes to /etc/system on Root Mirror Are Not Read at Boot (Doc ID 1457623.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 20, 2022

Applies to:

Solstice DiskSuite Software - Version 4.2 to 4.2.1 [Release 4.0]
Sun Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) - Version 11.9.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After making changes to /etc/system file, the system is rebooted, but the changes are not being read in by the kernel. An examination of the /etc/system file shows that the new values are indeed in that file.

The metastat command output shows no issues with SVM metadevices being used as / . Mount command output shows the SVM metadevice is correctly mounted. No errors are reported in /var/adm/messages nor on the console.
