The ssi_so binary is used by SAMQFS to comunicate with ACSLS server.
The process will go into a defunct state for a number of reasons the first & most likely problem is loss of communication to the ACSLS server.
Purpose
This document explains how to trouble shoot SAM-FS server failures connecting to an ACSLS sever and the resulting ssi_so process going into a defunct stat.
