Solaris 11 net-snmp SNMP agent does not return SNMPv2-SMI agent information as Solaris 10 does (Doc ID 1477595.1)

Last updated on JULY 29, 2016

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11 11/11 to 11.3 [Release 11.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Perfoming a snmpwalk or snmget of the OIDs that the SNMPv2-SMI MIB returns for the SNMP agent system errors on Solaris 11 with the net-snmp service.

For example:

# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.42.3.1

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.42.3.1 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID

A query of a Solaris 10 system running the sma service would return the following:

# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.42.3.1
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.42.3.1.1.0 = STRING: "Sun Microsystems SNMP Agent"
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.42.3.1.2.0 = Hex-STRING: 83 25 EC 24
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.42.3.1.3.0 = STRING: "Sun Microsystems Inc..SunOS 5.10.Generic.January 2005."
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.42.3.1.4.0 = Counter32: 1343081469
