Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) the newfs Command Fails with "Resource temporarily unavailable" when run on metadevice (Doc ID 1478862.1)

Symptoms

A ufs file system is being created on top of a Solaris Volume Manager metadevice. The newfs command is correctly run against the device. Instead of creating the file system, the command fails with the following errors. 

# newfs /dev/md/rdsk/d20
/dev/md/rdsk/d20: Resource temporarily unavailable

 

Changes

The metadevice had just been successfully created.  The newfs command was executed immediately after the creation. 

#  metainit d20 -r  c3t10d0s1 c3t18d0s1 c3t21d0s1
    d20: RAID is setup
