Symptoms

Attempts to query the status of Oracle's Secure Global Desktop (SGD) or Secure Global Desktop Gateway using system init scripts result in error messages, though the applications may be up and running.

Example:

# /etc/init.d/sun.com-sgd-base status
  "unknown [failed]"
# /etc/init.d/sun.com-sgd-gw status
  "unknown [failed]"
