When Using Net App "Snapvault" Software with a NAS Filer and Solaris 9: pwd And pwdx Do Not Return the Same Value, and tar Fails (Doc ID 1496233.1)

When using Net App "Snapvault" software with a NAS Filer on Solaris prior to Solaris 10, the following behavior is observed:

symlink pointing to /net NFS mounted dir.
Cd-ing there, pwd and pwd $$ dont return the same path, thus tar fails:

Bug 15179362 (CR 4930926) "we need an in kernel getcwd()" was the change made in Solaris 10 which explains why Solaris 10 does not see this behavior.

Bug 15783749 (CR 7159261) "pwd and pwdx dont return same value, and tar fails" was filed for Solaris, but closed as not a bug", since the issue exists with Netapp's NFS server.
