Linux Sun Ray/Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Server Hangs, Requires Reboot (Doc ID 1508972.1)

Symptoms

In an Oracle Virtual Desktop (VDI) environment on Linux servers, it is found that with one or more of the nodes in a cluster the entire operating system/kernel will hang/freeze.  The utaudio process may be seen to consume unusually high amounts of CPU prior to the freeze. This requires the server to be cold restarted to resolve the issue,

NOTE: This can also be seen when Sun Ray Software is running alone, without Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

Messages like this can be seen in the messages file (/var/log/messages*) on the server:
