No Audio/Sound From Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Windows Session (Doc ID 1512699.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Version 3.3 to 3.5.3 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When using Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and accessing supported Windows Desktops from VirtualBox Desktop Provider, sounds does not work i.e. audio from the Windows Desktop is not heard on the client.  This problem is also seen outside of VDI connecting to the Windows Desktop using the Sun Ray Server (SRS) Windows Connector (uttsc).

NOTE: The issue is only seen when the RDP Pool setting for "Sound Output" as per:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26217_01/E35769/html/desktop-pools.html#desktop-pools-rdp

is set to Low. This is also seen from the command line by viewing the uttsc command to connect to the Windows Desktop and looking for:

-r sound:low

If connecting to the Windows Desktop via RDP or vRDP outside of these products it works fine.
