Sun Storage 6140 Array Power Supply / Fan Trays (PSU) Are Now Available as a Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) (Doc ID 1524071.1)

Details

Oracle has now qualified the Power Supply Unit (PSU) of the 6140 Storage Array as a Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU). The part has been promoted to CRU status (previously a FRU, or Field Replaceable Unit) due to the ease and safety of the replacement procedure as well as the availability of guidance for system administrators in the Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) Service Advisor.  The Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) software will generate an alarm in the event of a Power Supply / Fan failure.  See <Document 1021103.1> Sun Storage 6000 Arrays and Sun StorageTek 2500 Arrays: Troubleshooting Power Supply and Fan Failures. The applicable 6140 alarms are identified below.

If the Automatic Service Request (ASR) feature of CAM is enabled, a service request will be automatically opened and routed to the appropriate analyst to assist with shipment of the CRU.  Other options include Oracle's Rapid SR (performed completely without analyst assistance), or manually opening a service request in the Customer Support Portal.

Upon receipt of the part, you will use the Service Advisor utility within CAM to perform the work.
