ZFS autoreplace does not work with MPXIO (Doc ID 1529310.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2021

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 10/08 U6 to 11.0 [Release 10.0 to 11.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

ZFS pool 'autoreplace' property, controls automatic device replacement. If set to off, device replacement must be initiated by using the zpool replace command.
If set to on, any new device, found in the same physical location as a device that previously belonged to the pool, is automatically formatted and replaced.

When this issue is present, when a device, which is part of a ZFS pool and under MPxIO control, is removed and a new one inserted, autoreplace is not working
even if property is set to on.

To know if a LUN is under MPxIO control, look in format output and check if the physical path starts with '/scsi_vhci/...'.
