'lucreate' fails: ERROR: error retrieving mountpoint source for dataset - ERROR: failed to mount file system (Doc ID 1530512.1)

Problem running lucreate if the zone has a ZFS separate dataset for /opt

Symptoms

lucreate fails trying to mount the ABE: 

# lucreate -n newBE
Analyzing system configuration.
Updating boot environment description database on all BEs.
Updating system configuration files.
--snip--

Mounting ABE <newBE>.
ERROR: error retrieving mountpoint source for dataset <              >
ERROR: failed to mount file system <              > on </.alt.tmp.b-ELb.mnt/opt>
ERROR: unmounting partially mounted boot environment file systems
ERROR: cannot mount boot environment by icf file </etc/lu/ICF.1>
ERROR: Failed to mount ABE.
Reverting state of zones in PBE <Sol10u10_be1>.
ERROR: Unable to copy file systems from boot environment <Sol10u10_be1> to BE <newBE>.
ERROR: Unable to populate file systems on boot environment <newBE>.
Removing incomplete BE <newBE>.
ERROR: Cannot make file systems for boot environment <newBE>.
