How to change from simple disk device to EMC PowerPath device in a zpool (Doc ID 1540912.1)

Goal

Occasionally administrators, by mistake, provides simple disk devices, of the form  /dev/dsk/cXtYdZ, to zpool add or zpool create instead of the corresponding /dev/dsk/emcpowerXY devices that they had intended.
