Symptoms

Solaris 10 10/09 U8 version, Install and Upgrade

When attempting to upgrade server from Solaris 10_u9 release 10/09  to Solaris 10_u10 09/10 using Live Upgrade. After replacing the original Live Upgrade packages with those from the 09/10 installation DVD image and have applied all the patches recommended by documentation on the Oracle support site still receiving the same error message below. The ABE is successfully created, but the upgrade fails almost immediately with core dump using a DVD image downloaded from official sources. It is mounted via a lofi device.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Replace the original Live Upgrade packages with those from the 09/10 installation DVD image
2. Perform lucreatesuccessfully.
3. run luupgrade.

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
One is unable to upgrade Solaris from 10/09 to 09/10 using Live Upgrade.
