Citrix Application is Slow Over VRDP in Windows Desktops Provisioned with Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (Doc ID 1542266.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 22, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Version 3.4.1 to 3.5.2 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In an environment in which Oracle Virtual Desktop (VDI)  is used to provision Windows Desktop sessions virtualized with Oracle VirtualBox, users may observe extremely slow performance (screen updates) when running a Citrix application is run in the virtualized Windows Desktop.   This is only seen when the VDI environment is connecting to the virtualized desktop via vRDP.

This specific behavior was observed running Citrix client version 12.1 to connect to Citrix XenApp 5 2003, but may be seen to impact other combinations.

This is only seen when the VDI environment is connecting to the virtualized desktop via vRDP.   Attempts to workaround the issue by disabling the Sun Ray Server RCA feature will not work.
