X86 System Unable to Boot and Hangs at Grub Prompt

Symptoms
When booting the system after the bios is loaded and the system starts the grub loading....
the system stops at the grub prompt "grub", and does not display the menu.lst selection screen.
Changes
Update from 11.1 to latest 11.1 version.
Updated all Zpools to version 34 from version 33. The rpool was on version 33.
After this update the boot failed to boot by dropping to grub prompt.
After attempting to install a new bootloader the following message is displayed...
