Last updated on SEPTEMBER 30, 2019

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11 11/11 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

It is possible to relax the constraints on particular packages on a system.

The reason for doing this is to be able to update a particular package or set of packages.

This could be due to an immediate need to address just a specific issue, typically this could be a vulnerability fix.

Only certain packages can be unlocked and on the whole these are the  packages which are standalone ones.

It is not possible to unlock any of the main Oracle Solaris packages.
