Remote Applications "Disappear" from Originating Pane when Users Switch Between Multiple Local Display Panes using Compiz Window Manager
(Doc ID 1558801.1)
Last updated on FEBRUARY 21, 2019
Applies to:
Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 4.4 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Users may report that remote application sessions hosted by Secure Global Desktop (SGD) may seem to disappear as the user switches away, and back to a pane within a local (client) Window Manager.
Consider a scenario as explained here:
- A user connecting from a Ubuntu 12.04 client (with "paned" window manager) logs into SGD, and launches an application. The application displays normally within the active / selected pane.
- Then the user switches to another local pane.
- Now, when the user switches back to the original SGD pane, the application window that was launched in step (1) appears to have "disappeared", (not even minimized).
- To restore the application windows, the user will have to return to the SGD webtop and hit the 'Play' button. This action often restores the application to the state it was in when the user first switched local panes.
Changes
The Compiz Window Manager (http://www.compiz.org/), which was disabled by default in earlier versions of Ubuntu, has been enabled.
