Symptoms
The Chassis Serial Number (CSN) is used by the Appliance System Software in a number of ways.
The CSN relates to the Chassis of the NAS head and problems with the Service Processor (SP) software can cause zeros to be reported and even UI (BUI or CLI ) difficulties with messages such as "no such chassis".
An incorrect CSN can also lead to Phone Home services not working.
Please note that if the CSN is missing then a cluster peer that is rebooted will not join cluster (Applicable to Clustered Appliances only ).
To confirm if your CSN is reporting correctly check the Chassis Serial Number/CSN field is not all 0s ( 0000000000 ):
