Administrators Unable to Add Multiple LDAP Hosts to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Environment (Doc ID 1561069.1)

Last updated on MAY 05, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Version 3.4.1 to 3.5.2 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) allows for the configuration of multiple Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) hosts as User Directories.

In some cases, the VDI Administrator may find that after adding a new LDAP Host, an existing LDAP Host disappears from the LDAP Host list.

Example:

Here's an example situation after adding ldap1.domain.com to an existing LDAP Hots list: ldap0.domain.com

# /opt/SUNWvda/sbinvda directory-show LDAP-directory
directory_name: LDAP-directory
Authentication: anonymous
        Hosts: ldap1.domain.com:389
      Base DN: o=domain

Meanwhile,  the cacao.0 log may show both old and new LDAP Hosts:

FINEST: thr#3630264 directory version for service ldap://ldap0.domain.com[389],ldap1.domain.com[389]/o=domain = LDAP Directory

Note: Cacao logs for VDI are available in different locales, depending on the platform VDI has been installed on.

Oracle Solaris platforms: /var/cacao/instances/vda/logs/cacao.0
Oracle Linux platforms: /var/opt/sun/cacao2/instances/vda/logs/cacao.0
