Symptoms

 system may hang during boot with the following messages:

  
WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0
WARNING: ATAPI drv, target: 0, reset failed but continuing
WARNING: timeout: reset bus chno = 0 targ = 0
WARNING: ata_controller - Set features failed
....
WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0
WARNING: ATAPI drv, target: 0, reset failed but continuing
WARNING: timeout: reset bus chno = 0 targ = 0
WARNING: ata_controller - Set features failed
