Last updated on MAY 28, 2021

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 to 10 1/13 U11 [Release 10.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Prior to upgrading Solaris 10 Samba from version 3.0.37 to version 3.6.8 in Solaris Guest User access without a password or authentication request from specific hosts worked correctly using the options security = share.

The security = share option is deprecated in Samba 3.6.8 and using security = user is recommended.

Guest User access without a password being provided now failed with Access Denied messages with security = user configured.

The Solaris Samba version update took place via Patch 119757-26 SPARC or 119758-26 X64 being installed.
