Purpose

The current note for configuring a disk after replacement is: How to Configure a BDA Server Disk After Disk Replacement With the bdadiskutility Utility (Doc ID 2642582.1).

The following four notes are deprecated:

  1. Steps for Replacing a Disk Drive and Determining its Function on the Oracle Big Data Appliance V2.2.*/V2.3.1/V2.4.0/V2.5.0/V3.x/V4.x (Doc ID 1581331.1).
  2. How to Configure a Server Disk After Replacement as an HDFS Disk or Oracle NoSQL Database Disk on Oracle Big Data Appliance V2.2.*/V2.3.1/V2.4.0/V2.5.0/V3.x/V4.x (Doc ID 1581583.1).
  3. How to Configure a Server Disk After Disk Replacement as an Operating System Disk for /u01 and /dev/sda on Oracle Big Data Appliance V2.2.*/V2.3.1/V2.4.0/V2.5.0/V3.x/V4.x (Doc ID 1581338.1).
  4. How to Configure a Server Disk After Disk Replacement as an Operating System Disk for /u02 and /dev/sdb on Oracle Big Data Appliance V2.2.*/V2.3.1/V2.4.0/V2.5.0/V3.x/V4.x (Doc ID 1581373.1).

The above four notes do not cover BDA X7 or BDA X8 or any versions on OL7.  

 

NOTE: DO NOT REBOOT A NODE UNTIL THE DISK(S) ARE FULLY CONFIGURED.

IF PROBLEMS CONFIGURING A DISK(S) ARISE CONTACT BDA SUPPORT TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
REBOOT ON DISK(S) CONFIGURATION FAILURE OR BEFORE COMPLETE CONFIGURATION CAN CAUSE LOSS OF THE SERVER.

The document will describe the steps for configuring a server disk as an HDFS disk or Oracle NoSQL Database disk after disk drive replacement on Oracle Big Data Appliance V2.2.*/V2.3.1/V2.4.0/V2.5.0/V3.x/V4.x.

The steps apply to clusters on OL5, OL6 on non-X7-2 e.g. non-EFI hardware and OL7 on non-X7-2 e.g non-EFI hardware.
