In certain versions of AK Storage Software, the Gen 4 Logzilla(TM) Solid State drives (Oracle PN: 7045627, Model number:Z16IZF2EUSUN73G) can have increased writes to the SSDs, eventually causing them to fail with a SMART trip for exceeding the endurance threshold. The drive will fail with a SMART trip, 0x80 with additional sense key 0x4c for exceeding the endurance threshold.

This document outlines the "Appliance workflow" workaround that makes the necessary changes (disables the Sync Cache on the SSD) on the fly and will remain persistent.

Note: See Sun Alert <Document:1596246.1> for complete information regarding this issue and the recommended resolution.
