Using Oracle Exalytics, OBIEE 18.104.22.168.6 and BI Office add-in. Set up the bioffice.xml file and downloaded and installed the BI office feature on Windows 7 client machine. Initially the BIOffice feature was working in Excel.
Later, client side logging was enabled, as described in <Document 1066750.1> How To Increase Logging For The OBIEE BI Office Add-In, to troubleshoot a problem with viewing catalog objects. After enabling the log feature, Excel cannot be successfully launched from the client PC. If the Excel icon, or menu item, is selected, the application starts to load, but then a series of white (blank) pop-up windows pops up on the machine. The pop-ups continue to grow in number, the CPU use spikes to 100% and the machine is locked until Task Manager is used to close out all the pop-up windows and to end the Excel process.
If the BIOffice plugin is un-installed and then re-installed, the same cycle repeats.
