Starting with Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Enterprise Edition, Essbase, is an installable option with the BI Foundation install.  This option is an “integrated” install where both OBIEE and Essbase are managed by a single Web Logic Server (WLS) Administration Server. Aside from the BI Foundation install, Essbase also continues to be available as a stand-alone product with Enterprise Performance Management (EPM). This document answers frequently asked questions on the differences between a standalone Essbase install and an integrated OBIEE/Essbase install.
